We’re getting ready for SMM which opens its doors 4 September at 9:30.

50 plus partners are joining us in the Team Norway pavilion at this year’s SMM. With about 1.250 square meters we are 12,5 percent up from last edition of SMM. We are thrilled with the growth and could have been bigger if there was more space available at SMM.

Ship of the year.
The prestigious award Ship of the year (awarded by Skipsrevyen) will be awarded Tuesday 4 September at 12:00 noon at our stand (B7.300). You’re all welcome to take part in this formal ceremony.

Networking Event.
We’re together with the Royal Norwegian Embassy in Berlin and Innovation Norway a Networking Event Thursday at 16:30 at our pavilion.

 

 


Norwegian Shipbuilders and Norwegian Maritime Exporters enhances collaboration.

Norwegian Shipbuilders becomes a partner of Norwegian Maritime Exporters. We have a lot in common and the main goal for both organization is the best for the maritime industry in Norway says Asle Strønen, managing director of Norwegian Shipbuilders.

We are delighted to have Norwegian Shipbuilders on board as a partner says Erlend Prytz, CEO of Norwegian Maritime Exporters. We’ll be able to join forces on several issues concerning our industry, among the most important is governmental understanding of and support for our industry, but we’ll work on several issues too of course with emphasis on marketing and export.

Nor-Shipping evolution continues with bold new logo and ocean ambitions.

Nor-Shipping is continuing its modernizing drive with a new logo that affirms its commitment to its core maritime audience, while demonstrating a desire to open up to new business opportunities within the ocean environment. The move follows confirmation from Nor-Shipping Director Per Martin Tanggaard that the event week would be positioning itself as ‘your arena for ocean solutions’ for its next outing in 2019, and beyond.

Optimarin says BWT market is accelerating as system orders and revenues rocket

Ballast water treatment specialist Optimarin says that a recent surge in new business orders and revenues is indicative of positive developments within the BWT market. The Norwegian headquartered firm, which has now sold close to 600 of its USCG-approved Optimarin Ballast Systems (OBS), has shattered its initial growth forecasts for the year to date, with both orders and income up by over 50% year-on-year.

Zenitel equips inaugural vessel with the brand new Smart1 Wireless Telephone System

 

 

Zenitel, an international leader in intelligent communication solutions has installed, together with their partner COBS AB, the first SMART1 Wireless Telephone System on board a vessel. The smartphone handsets handle HD voice and alarm messages over a ship covering DECT network and uses WIFI network for email, internet and apps.

NAVTOR Anticipates Global PAYS Acceptance In The Wake Of Japanese Approval

Pay As You Sail pioneer NAVTOR has welcomed the decision by the Japanese Hydrographic Office to formally approve the use of PAYS for ENC. Almost all hydrographic offices have now accepted PAYS as a method for distributing digital charts, and the Norwegian e-navigation specialist believes full global acceptance is on the horizon.

Oppløftende interesse blandt norske utstyrsleverandører til cruise-industrien.

For første gang på flere tiår vil Norske Maritime Eksportører (NME) arrangere en nasjonal paviljong på cruiseindustriens mest attraktive samlingspunkt, Seatrade Cruise Global, som arrangeres i Miami fra 9. – 11. april 2019.

Det er oppløftende å kunne konstatere at det er en slik entusiasme blandt norske maritime aktører som har et stort potensiale for leveranser til de mange nybyggene blandt cruise rederiene. –Våre partnere viser overveldende positiv respons til å delta på en Norsk paviljong og vi kan allerede bekrefte at noen av de største selskapene i bransjen har meldt seg på for å sikre seg en plass, sier administrerende direktør Erlend Prytz i NME.

Medlemmenes respons vitner om dramatiske endringer i norsk industri. Da bunnen falt ut av olje- og gassmarkedet i 2014 startet løpet for å finne nye markeder. For mange av NMEs partnere har det betydd omstillinger til blandt annet å gjennoppta leveranser til cruise næringen.

–Historisk sett har norske aktører alltid vært aktive innenfor cruiseindustrien, med bygging av skip og utstyrsleveranser, sier Prytz.

–Nå er bygging av cruiseskip det segmentet innen maritim industri som vokser raskest. Selskaper i NME benytter sin kompetanse og erfaring til å ta posisjoner i cruiseindustrien som for noen er et supplement eller alternativ til offshore, sier Prytz.

For tiden har tre norske skipsverft kontrakter på leveranser av cruiseskip i Explorer-klassen, og den norske leverandørindustrien er blitt med for fullt. Men som navnet indikerer fokuserer NME på eksport, og medlemmenes gode rykte internasjonalt bør gi nyttig drahjelp i det kompromissløse cruisesegmentet.

–Norske utstyrs- og tjenesteleverandører er kjent for å levere kvalitet på øverste hylle i maritim industri, sier Prytz.

–Cruiseaktørene er ikke bare kravstore, de opplever også økt etterspørsel etter sine beste produkter. Det gjør en perfekt match for partnerne våre.
